In the early eighties, after a background in fabric arts, most recently large soft sculptures used in department store ,home , business and restaurant decorations , Margriet Seinen moved to a country setting without electricity and needed a new art form . She found some silk dyes and resist in a shop and without any instruction set out to temporarily paint a pretty design or two This dalliance turned into an irreversable addiction . She painted pillows, scarves, wallhangings, clothing, but now focuses only on " fine art" paintings. All her work is painted on silk .
Her favorite theme is human connection to nature in the sense of inseperability from nature, as part of the elements, part of the dance of all growing things. To be healed in spirit means to join this dance,to celebrate the uniqueness of each individual's pure essence,to accept the transient gift of life with robust joy and uninhibited expression of Self.
Her work has been shown in galleries in The Netherlands, Vancouver, BC, Canada, Wahington , Oregon,New York City, and California. Two of her pieces are published in "The best of Silk Painting " by Janas and Tuckman 1994.
